Revival speaking Khoekhoegowab

This video was submitted by Musuweu Theron Kolokwe from Windhoek, Namibia, where he and Revival both live and work. Khoekhoegowab, also known as Khoekhoe or by the ethnic term Nama, is spoken by as many as 300,000 people, primarily in the southern African nation of Namibia. A Khoisan language of the Khoe linguistic family, Khoekhoegowab is among one of the largest indigenous language groups of southern Africa that predate the Bantu migration. Like many of its linguistic relatives, Khoekhoegowab phonology includes some of the so-called ‘click’ consonants. It remains unrecognized by the Namibian government, and untaught in schools. As a consequence, Khoekhoegowab speakers continue to face challenges toward sustaining their language for future generations.
