This video was recorded by Robert Keresztesy in the Czech Republic, where Otmar lives and works. Po Naszymu is spoken by an unknown number of speakers in the Eastern European region of Cieszyn Silesia, which straddles the Czech-Polish border and is home to some 810,000 people. An Indo-European language of the Slavic linguistic family, Po Naszymu’s precise classification has been the subject of debate: while some academics consider Po Naszymu to be a variety of the Silesian language, others have described it as a Czech-Polish creole. A predominantly spoken language, Po Naszymu remains more widely used than other regional languages of Eastern Europe.
