Isayev speaking Avar
Avar is spoken by some 760,000 people in the Russian Republic of Dagestan, where it is co-official alongside 13 other languages, including Chechen and Aghul. A literary language since the 15th century, Avar is written using the Cyrillic alphabet; however, due to its positioning in the central Eurasia, its speakers have also used the Georgian, Arabic, and Latin scripts at different points in the language's history.
