This video was recorded by Teddy Nee in South Korea. Korean is spoken by over 72 million people on the Korean peninsula, plus a large diaspora, with almost 5 million more speaking the language around the world. The Korean language has five major dialects in South Korea and one in North Korea; despite the socio-political and geographical differences, the dialects are relatively homogenous and mutually intelligible. There is no consensus on language family classification for Korean; however, there are two main theories. Many linguistics have classified Korean as a language isolate; a majority of others group Korean together with Jeju and a few dormant relatives to form the Koreanic language family.
