What is the language revitalization accelerator?

Every year, you can apply to Wikitongues for grants, training, and in-kind support to start or grow a language project in your community. If your project is selected for the 2023 cohort, you will get:

Learn more about the 2022 cohort here; and watch our Q&A session on YouTube to learn more about how we choose the grant recipients.

What are the participation requirements?

What is the application timeline?

How many projects will be chosen?

The 2023 cycle will support up to 20 language revitalization projects.

Who can apply?

As long as your community’s language (or dialect) is endangered, dormant, or under-resourced, you are welcome to apply!

Do I need to be fluent in my language?

No! If your ancestors spoke the language that you want to revitalize, you are welcome to apply.

What if my country is under sanctions?

If your country is on the U.S. Treasury’s OFAC Sanctions List, you can still apply, but we may not be able to give you a grant. If you have questions about this, please write to hello@wikitongues.org.

Any other questions?
